Competition rules
1. Introduction:
RAILFILM”., the organisers of “RAILFILM 2008, The International Railway Film-makers Festival will hold this year’s festival between July and September. This festival is aimed to give film makers the opportunity to present their work and support their further artistic development.
2. The Competition:
RAILFILM invites yearly the amateur and professional film-makers for the competition. The exact rules are presented on the www.railfilm.net home page. The medial partners of the competition are BahnTV the TV Broadcaster owned by DB AG, the SH-Production with their IPTV station www.bahnorama-tv.com and the Railway operators ÖBB (Austria), ZSR (Sloavkia) and other railway oriented magazines.
3. Who may enter.
a) In amateur categories of the Railfilm 2008 can enter his film, who has no business related to film making or is not emplyed in such business and did not make the film
upon 3rd party order.
b) In professional categories of Railfilm are invited all film makers who has any relation to a professional film making businesses in all forms and positions.
c) Each film may not be older than 3 years (date of finalisation) and must not be longer than 15 minutes.
4. The categories:
Category A: Bahndoku
In this categories the films may deal with railway technology, construction today or in the past
Category B: Bahnmovie
A feature film related to railways or model railways in any form
Category C: Bahnkunst
An artist approach to railway theme in any form, animation or in content.
Category D: Railways & Environment
A documentary film about the influence the railways and the environment.
Category E: Railways of Slovakia - only for amateur film makers
Any film related to railways on territory of Slovakia or to the celebration of 160th anniversary of the first steam train on those tracks.
5. The awards for RAILFILM 2008
The main award:
The award RAILFILM STRASSHOF – for the best film in categories for professional filmmakers.
The prize in honoured by 2000.- Euro.
Prizes for the categories A-D
Camera Train in Gold in each category one film can be awarded by this with 800.- Euro donated prize.
6. Award for amateur films:
The first prize: HDV camera donated by SONY
Second prize: Weekend with Railtours – donated by ÖBB
Third prize: Luxory dinner for two on the board of Majestic Imperial Train de Luxe.
7. Awards of Slowak Railways for the category E.
The first prize: HDV camera
The second prize: High-End consumer video Camera
The third prize: Video equipment
Every film can win more awards.
8. Each awarded film will receive a diploma about the prize and a small present of our sponsors or from ErlebnisWeltBahn. The best 10 films will be presented to the public on DVD. Every enter to the competition will receive a certificate of participation.
9. All amateur film must be entered on DVDs (playable on standard desk top DVD players). The professional entries must provide a DVD copy of their film and the film on any of listed tapes (see Registration form).
10. Every film must be registered and shipped to the address below before June 20th, 2008.

Every film will recieve an electronic confirmation about the reception and will be checked from technical aspects. In case of difficulties the orginzer will contact the author.
Every film must be entered on separate DVD.
11. a) There is no mandatory language for the contribution. However 2 copies of an English or German script must accompany each video. The film itself may be subtitled in either of these two languages. The submitted material will be shown with its original soundtrack.
b) Each video must have a complete translation in English or German. There should be three publicity pictures included either on jpg or gif format. A simple CV (curriculum
vitae) with a photograph of the author (s) will be necessary, these personalia will remain in the hands of the organiser,
12. All videos have to be sent free of charge to the organiser the submitted DVDs will remain in the organisers archives.
13. The organiser requires a written permission to transmit (even if only as sections) of the contribution on TV or IPTV as trailer for the competition. The organiser reserves the right of transmission either wholly or as excerpt of the public reaction recorded during festival.
14. Organiser requires permission to duplicate the submitted material for evaluation the by the panel of judges.
15. The organiser will be the final arbiter for all decisions and will not accept any juridical litigation.
16. The organiser will not accept any liabilities arising from the participation in this competition
17. The contributor submitting his registration document declares to adhere totally to the all the stipulated competition rules
